The wisdom teeth are just like the normal teeth that grow in the third molar of the upper and lower jaw. They grow in between the age of 17-25 normally but they can appear at any unexpected time during the age of young adult or even later.

A wisdom tooth that has emerged partially may be blocked by other teeth or may not have enough room to come in completely. This can irritate the gum, causing pain and swelling, which requires the tooth to be removed.
